Although his performances weren’t noted for their realism they were full of screen-friendly action stunts and horseback riding. The influence of his screen persona can be seen in Ronald Reagan and John Wayne and their approach to portraying cowboys. He even helped John Wayne get a job moving props in the back lot of Fox Studios.
